runHub, Mountain Culture Festival

Our runHub is more than just a start-finish line and tents. It is a place for runners, supporters, volunteers and the local community to come and connect. It is the beating heart of our mountain and culture festival – where we share experiences that celebrate palawa (Tasmanian Aboriginal) culture and knowledge, as well as stories about kunanyi itself, the flora and fauna who call kunanyi home, and so much more!

It also has all the good stuff: an excellent view of kunanyi, food vans (including veg & vegan options), hot & cold drinks (including classic Tassie beverages), live music, complimentary physio & foot treatments and an expo. And importantly, our runHub is kid (and dog) friendly!

2024 Festival Booklet

A Mountain Culture Festival

We are generously welcomed by the palawa to run with kunanyi, and our festival aims to be a safe place where runners, their supporters, volunteers and the local community can all explore their own connections to Country.

Smoking Ceremonies are held before each run. They are powerful cultural experiences and previous runners regularly tell us how they’ve subsequently run with kunanyi with a fresh cultural lens.

In 2024, the Culture Hub will be at the heart of our festival and will busy right across the weekend. The whole family can drop into the Culture Hub and Run Expo as they please – bookings aren’t required and these activities are free!

Kids (and adults!) can have a go at creating ‘bush bling’, learn to weave a basket, and have a yarn and learn about edible native plants. You might like to elevate your feet, pop on earphones and listen to bird songs heard on kunanyi thanks to the team at the Tasmanian Land Conservancy, or kickstart your habitat-making journey with a free native plant giveaway thanks to Bushcare.

Getting to our runHub

Our runHub is located at Wellesley Park, in South Hobart – it’s (almost!) a stone’s throw from the famous Cascade Brewery.

Get there by taking the meandering rivulet track (by foot, bike or scooter!) or catch a public bus. If you do have to drive, all our runHub parking is on the Cascade Paddocks on Strickland Avenue. Head to our kMR Community Group to find someone to carpool with!
