Kunanyi Mountain Run

19-21 March 2027

KMR will be back in 2027! Dates will be announced in May.

Nipaluna / Hobart, Lutruwita / Tasmania

In 2027, we're proud to host the very first combined Australian Mountain and Trail Running Championships (AMTRC2027). Whether you're vying for a spot on the Australian team that competes at the World Championships in South Africa, or you're entering your very first trail run or hike, there's a place for everyone at KMR.

We're introducing a brand-new 80km Ultra event in 2027, which is the Australian Long Trail Championship Event. It involves climbing and descending almost 5,000m; that's the equivalent of four times up and down Kunanyi/Mt Wellington! If you’re thinking about it, 2027 is your year. We may not see the 80km Ultra return outside of the Champs year.

But KMR isn't just about big distances. We have events for every level of experience including our Foothills 5km and the Kids Runs. The Palawa (Tasmanian Aboriginal people) generously welcome and share Kunanyi with trail runners. And we invite you too. To connect with nature, with community and culture, with yourself, and with Kunanyi - Hobart's iconic mountain.

Thousands of runners and supporters have started their own KMR stories. Will you join us in 2027?

What people have to say about KMR:

KMR Scholarship Team

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to get amongst the trails at KMR. That’s why each year, we select 6 people to make up our KMR Scholarship team, and provide them a fully supported trail running journey. We follow them along the 5 months to KMR weekend, as they challenge themselves and grow themselves - physically and mentally and create their own special community.

In 2027, our KMR Scholarships program will have a shift of focus: to support up-and-coming trail runners to compete at the national, and perhaps international stage.

Applications for our 2027 Scholarship Team open 9 September.

2027 Scholarships open 9th September!
